First of all apologies to both Dog Robes UK and Blonde Dog Designs who provided their fantastic items to be reviewed for a Christmas shopping guide. Sadly the busy nature of  the festive season delayed us in getting feedback from our testers. However, we’ve now very thoroughly tested their products and the results are in! Dog Robes Dog Robes UK kindly sent us their full range of robe, snood and drawstring bag for little Boo who is having lots of baths to help with his dermodex. Designed and made in Britain, Dog Robes are made of a special fabric that helps absorb as much waterRead More →

There is nothing better than a yummy Christmas Dinner on 25th December, surrounded by family, friends… and furries! Many of us will figuratively invite our pets to the table on Christmas by sharing our food with them as a special treat; some of us might even invite them literally as well! Whilst this is a lovely thought, it is widely accepted that most human food is just not good for your dog, some of it is even dangerous. So here’s our Christmas guide to what Christmas foods your pet can have, and what you should leave on the Christmas table… Turkey Turkey and other ChristmasRead More →

We’ve all seen the adorable stockings, filled with pup-related treats, in the shops this time of year. I don’t know very many dog owners who don’t take this time of year as a further opportunity to spoil their furry friend. We need to be careful, however, about exactly what is in those adorably packaged gift solutions. You can see our article on Fat in Treats for one major issue to look out for, but this article is geared towards another Christmas pooch favourite – raw hide. There are numerous horror stories about raw hide and yet it is hugely prevalent in the pet market, whetherRead More →

You’re all ready for your own Halloween party now …but what will you be putting in your doggie’s goody bag? Our reviewers have had the hard task of trying out some new and unusual treats on the market… Fish4Dogs Definitely a treat that could be used as apple bobbing for pooches! Fish4Dogs kindly sent us their new Sweet Ocean Wraps, made only from two ingredients; cod fish skin and apple- they are grain and nasties free (rrp $4.50 for 100g)! The fish is sourced sustainably from the ‘waste’ left over in the human food market (nearly a whopping 50%) from Norwegian fish farms which are someRead More →

October… The cold is coming, the nights are drawing in, and the ghosts and ghouls will be here before you know it! Who doesn’t enjoy a good old fashion fancy dress Halloween party? I know I do and I’m sure that a huge percentage of you lovely readers will have a good story to tell too. One year, I went to a friend’s house party dressed as a ‘dead beauty queen’ because the pretty girl always gets murdered first, right? Well, I got to wear a prom dress, smudge my make up all over my face and mess my hair up without a care inRead More →

Note: James Wellbeloved have not made payment to Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue or supplied us with any benefit designed to incite the writing of this review. It is an unsolicited review. As many of you may know, our beloved breed are often the long suffering victims of allergies and other skin conditions. For more information regarding the additives in a lot of high street feed options, please see this weeks article on Nutrition by Karla Pearson, canine nutritionist. At Phoenix, we endeavour to feed our pooches decent, quality food from the beginning of their time as a “Phoenix Pooch”. Whilst the same blanket food optionRead More →

Phew! It’s been hot recently. Even Scotland has been enjoying getting the BBQ out! And while the sun is man’s best friend it certainly isn’t for our pooches, especially when you have a brachycephalic breed (that’s our flat-nosed bunch). I’ve seen a few other people in their pj’s doing the zombie walk at 6am to avoid the heat and felt their pain (neither Archie or I are big fans of the morning), but what else, apart from avoiding the hottest part of the day can we do to keep our pooches cool and safe? Do you know the warning signs of heatstroke? Heat stroke isRead More →
