Happy August Everyone!
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the brand new, all exclusive, Phoenix sponsored monthly publication – The French Bulldog Enquirer. It is my absolute pleasure to have been given the go-ahead on this several months ago, and I am over the moon to see it finally here – in print! I hope that you enjoy this issue, and those in the future, as much as we enjoy writing them for you.
As this is the very first issue, let me take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Kim Malyan and I am a trustee for Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue. I am also the very proud daughter of our Founder, Teresa Cargill (who much prefers my full name, Kimberleigh!). I have grown up with dogs and genuinely couldn’t imagine a life without them. The last eight or nine years have seen at least two dogs in our family home, and, more recently, in excess of six. A dog, to me, is an essential friend in life. No one should have to live without the kind of unconditional love that your dog will give to you.
But that’s enough about me, what about The Enquirer?! Well, the paper is 100% sponsored by Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue in pursuit of our primary charitable purpose – educating and supporting wonderful members of the public. Each month we will produce articles around a theme, designed to educate and entertain. So far I am assisted by members of our fabulous volunteer team, but I would love to see more of you on board. If you are a member of our Phoenix Community and have talents in writing or media (or you just fancy a go!) please do send me an email. I would love to hear from you.
This issue is focused mainly on the summer time. So, if the weather hots up over August, head on over to our “Need to Know” section for hints and tips to avoid heat-related illness. Also see “Frenchie Reviews” for Phoenix’s top picks for products to help your pooch stay cool this summer.
If you have some free time on your hands, check our “Phoenix in the Community” section for upcoming events in August. There will surely be an event in your area that you can pop along to and show your orange pride. Maybe even get in touch with a member of your Regional Team to enquire about joining our orange ranks! Our sponsors are offering some fantastic products and deals this month over on “Friends of Phoenix” – make sure you pay their websites a visit and see if you can spoil your pooch this summer. If you run a doggy business and would like to become a Friend of Phoenix, please do contact me.
Head on over to “French Bulldog Fun” and “Rising from the Ashes” to read about our special Phoenix dogs. I was particularly touched this month by Hollie’s story, and it really reminded me how innocent our fur babies are. They can be beaten and abused, yet still find the room in their bruised heart to shower us with love. It inspired me to be a little less annoyed when I hear a yappy bark (for the 10,000th time) or feel scrabbling claws at my legs… It reminded me to look at where those things came from, and smile. All they want to do is love us!
Once again, welcome to The French Bulldog Enquirer. I hope to see you here again, and again, and again…
